All Night Vigil 2015
in Solidarity with Victims and Survivors of the Earthquake in Nepal
Friday 12th June // Gaia House (and other locations)
We invite you to join us in Gaia House for our sponsored all night meditation vigil, raising money for those affected by the earthquake in Nepal. This is an opportunity to respond to a devastating event with the sort of solidarity and compassion that this world sometimes calls out for.
You are warmly invited to join the group at Gaia House or indeed show your solidarity for those in Nepal by organising your own sponsored vigil.
Practising all night asks us to deepen in our practice, and offers a profound sense of connection with our supporting Sangha and those for whom we undertake this practice.
On the same night, Venerable Lobsang Khando, Buddhist nun and founder of the BCMC (please see below) in Nepal will also be leading a vigil with the Friends Sangha in Morayshire, Scotland. This will be a special night of compassionate practice, Dharma reflections, dedications of blessings.
Our sponsorship money will go to the Mandala Trust (www.mandalatrust.org), who are partnering with the Bhwasa Community Medical Centre (BCMC) based in Bethan, Ramechhap to organise support for those effected by the earthquake in the coming weeks and months. Working in remote communities, BCMC will be ensuring food, clothing and basic medical supplies are available to those that need it most. Currently BCMC is opening its doors to provide shelter for the most vulnerable. Those whose homes are damaged and destroyed are provided with a place to sleep at night and a hot meal.
People wanting to sponsor those doing the vigil can click on this link to make a secure donation via JustGiving: campaign.justgiving.com/charity/mandalatrust/gaiahouse-vigil-for-Nepal.
At Gaia House the vigil will start at 9.30pm and finish at 6.45am, and you are welcome for either the whole night or part of it. To register your interest, for any questions you may have, or to let us know about a vigil you will be organising, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
