Barclays Bank: Meditation Vigil and Earth Dance

Barclays Bank:
Listen to the Earth!
Stop Funding Climate Change

Meditation Vigil and Earth Dance

Saturday 2nd September 2017, 11am // Golden Square, London

Barclays is one of the highest investors in fossil fuels of any high street bank – investing over £15 million of assets in oil, gas and coal extraction.

DANCE invite you to join us for a silent protest vigil outside Barclays Bank in Piccadilly Circus in London.

We will be asking Barclays Bank to listen to the Earth; to acknowledge the reality and urgency of climate change and it’s impact on the Earth’s capacity to support life. We are calling on Barclays to acknowledge their contribution to the climate crisis and to stop funding fossil fuels.

The action will begin with a slow walking meditation with banners from Golden Square to Barclays bank in Piccadilly circus. Barclays have shown they care about their public image and recently announced they would no longer be financially supporting fracking. Now is the time to keep the pressure up.

No experience of meditation is necessary. People are encouraged to follow any meditative or reflective practice they have. After the protest we will be meeting to discuss other actions and reflect on our experience of the action.
