Working Towards a Sustainable Future – Sanghaseva @ CAT

Working in the garden at CAT - June 2014

Working Towards a
Sustainable Future

facilitated by Kirsten Kratz,
organised by SanghaSeva

14th – 19th June 2015    //    CAT, mid Wales, UK

This work retreat offers the opportunity to combine working outdoors at the ecological flagship Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) with meditation and listening practice, as we nourish and express our care for life on Earth and our wish for a more sustainable world.

CAT is Europe’s leading centre for environmental inspiration and courses. Founded in 1973 on the site of a disused slate quarry in Machynlleth, CAT continues to lead the quest for sustainable, ecologically sound technologies, offering practical solutions on all aspects of sustainable living: environmental building, eco-sanitation, woodland management, renewable energy, energy efficiency and organic vegetable growing.

We will stay in one of CAT’s two Eco Cabins as we work onsite to support the community in whichever way is most helpful. Vegetarian lunch and dinner will be provided by CAT’s vegetarian wholefood restaurant, while breakfast will be self-catering.

The working days’ activities will be framed by periods of meditation and contemplation, and parts of each day will be spent in silence, enabling the cultivation of greater awareness in a daily life setting. Evening reflections and guided interactive exercises will aim to deepen our connection to the earth, each other and ourselves.

The retreat is open to all, those new to meditation as well as those with experience; meditation instructions will be given.

Here are some of the things people said about last year’s Sanghaseva retreat at CAT:

This week has been a big highlight of my year. And I continue to spread the word about the CAT Zero Carbon Report.

I came not really knowing what to expect but with a wish for peace and grounding. The retreat has given me so much.

I felt energised and revived. Heartfelt thanks.
